User-Side Listing Import-Export (ImpEx) Addon
This is a long-awaited addon requested by numerous customers across the globe. The listing import-export functionality has been available on the admin side for quite a long time. Users were required to forward data to the admin in order to get their listings imported or exported in bulk.
We have made this option available to all the users with the introduction of this addon. Listing import-export interface has been added to the user area, along with the capabilities it is offering.
The addon is available for all Worksforweb products starting from v.6.4 and above.
How Listing Import-Export (ImpEx) Addon Works
Enabling Import – Export for Users
Being able to import or export data in bulk is a cool and attractive feature, being a true time (and money) saver for business owners.
So, upon the installation, the first thing the admin has to do is enable this option for one or more user groups (usually, for business customers).
Once enabled, all group members have access to both import and export via their user menus.
Importing Listings
If you want to import auto data, first locate and click the ‘Import Listings’ from the user menu. Follow the directions of the relevant User Manual article for filling out the required fields under ‘System Import Values’ and ‘Data Import’.
Some listing fields may not exist for desired categories and will, therefore, show up as blank fields due to missing list-type or tree values. If blank fields occur, they will have to be filled in manually after the import has been completed.
Also, where column names exist within the import file, field IDs must be entered exactly. The exception to this rule lies with ‘Tree-type’ entries, such as with information for Make/Model in iAuto. Tree-type entries, such as the Make/Model example, are to be defined by two or more separate columns. In this case, the first will be identified as ‘MakeModel[1] which is the first level of information identifying the Make of the vehicle and then ‘MakeModel[2] which is the second level that identifies the Model of the vehicle.
Exporting Listings
If you want to export your listing data, first locate and click the ‘Export Listings’ link in the User menu. Follow the directions for filling out the required fields under ‘Export Filter’ and ‘Listing Properties to Export’ provided in the User Manual.
Next, select a specific category and the appropriate fields will appear. If no specific category is provided then common fields will only be displayed. All exported data will be archived under the file export.tar.gz and organized under files, pictures, videos, or export_data.xls.
