Future Plans
What was the inspiration behind the idea for your motorcycle business?
I was inspired by the work I have done for others in the Motorcycle Industry and discovered there was a viable market for a well organized (web) business that provided historical information and quality products.
What are your goals as far as the future of your business?
My primary start-up goal is to have a quality web site that users enjoy for quality products and historical information. My associates and I are well versed in taking the business to the corporate level once the site is completed.
What do you want to achieve?
My goal is to be able to have a small income from this and use this site as part of my corporate development. This corporate development will allow for me (us) to start funding Cancer foundation projects like I once owned and various other foundation projects around the world.
One of the projects I have is “Aspen Canyon Children Ranch,” a growing Non-Profit 501-C-3 Foundation. Please check it out here: http://www.aspencanyonchildrensranch.com/index.htm
What makes your business different from the scores of other motorcycle shops?
In my past Actor Paul Newman (now passed) aided me in this project development. To date no one has taken the time to focus on doing this in the motorcycle field. Mr. Newman developed his “Newman’s Own” product line on this basis to fund foundations all over the world. Currently his foundations exceed $400 million (USD) to charity since 1982. His company partnered with MacDonald’s during his ChampCar racing days and McDonald’s still uses his dressing products.
I also believe once the web site is completed that I can attract investors and hopefully celebrities to work with us in developing the charity and the AMC for profit venue that can be brought to the stock market. It is the marketable stock that can guarantee the foundation lasts in perpetuity. Who knows, maybe this project will entice Bon Jovi to get involved…
Why do you think that your business could help people?
It comes down to background. As a Cancer patient, I understand what families and patients need, as an experienced entrepreneur I understand what investors seek. This background allows me to have a practical focus on the foundation.
What are the biggest hurdles/obstacles you face?
My biggest hurdle is the web site. It must be dynamic and simple to use both for the end user and the administration.
I am sure we can do something about it and help you build a website of your dreams. Now, let's talk about the team that is behind the project.
Who is helping you?
Currently, it is Suzy and I.
What about a wider circle of supporters?
Once the website is working I am sure I can bring a few former associates into this project. One well known person in this industry is Kenny Castle, (http://www.custommotorcyclescoloradosprings.com/about-us/) he will become associated to this project and build custom motorcycles using the AMC brand name. Kenny is one of the top builders in the USA and author of our Manufacturing Guidelines.
When we have a quality website up and running, Kenny offered me a complete shop for any builds. He will also become one of the executives to the project.
In addition, there are many people willing to help. Everyone has the issue of needing a good site, so your help in getting coordinated support from people is crucial.
Another example; Gibson Guitar was one of my past partners and made custom guitars for me. We took this one very important step further by having children artist with terminal illness’s customizing the guitars for each custom build. ( Photos - coming)
What have you already done for your project?
I have a complete private placement ready for the market once the website is complete. I have the background in raising money and corporate development. Sadly, I have no money to get started which again starts with the web (and that's where the WorksForWeb Christmas initiative comes handy). I have these assets lined up now:
- I have AllStateLeather and Dealer Leather as my product drop shippers, totaling slightly over 2,000 products.
I own all intellectual property rights to:
- American Motorcycle Company / com/net/org
- American Bicycle Company / both started by Col. Pope in 1901
- Women Who Ride / .biz
- American Chrome Plated / com/net/org
What do you think about the Pimpin’ Website Makeover Contest by WorksForWeb? What are your expectations from the project?
I think this an amazing idea. You have the ability to get this project back up and running.
If you are also willing to bring back the “Women Who Ride” history section I believe many users will be impressed by the active role of Women within the Motorcycle Industry.
I believe this can turn into something really good for us all. Together we can turn this into a wonderful project that helps others with Cancer, acts as a tool for motorcycle history and brings together motorcycle enthusiasts that make up the American Motorcycle Industry.
Well this was quite informative Rich, thank you for sharing. Now we need some time to think about the project, brainstorm about ideas and plans, and put together an implementation strategy. We will start a bit slow, and a bit later, when the project will pick up pace, all the pieces of the project puzzle will start pulling together. As a result of our joint effort we hope to bring your dream to reality, helping cancer patients.
