Choosing the right hosting is one of the most important and essential tasks in creating a new classified website. Slow servers, admin-imposed RAM limitations, poor support, hidden incompatibilities are just a few issues that you may experience when installing php listing scripts from Worksforweb.
To date, we have worked with hundreds of hosting service providers on every continent of the world. Based on customer requests, we identified and selected several hosting providers that generally meet server requirements for our scripts. We try our best to keep this list accurate and up to update.
Please be advised that although we check those service providers below, we cannot ascertain that they meet all of our standards in every offer they have. Some of the cheaper shared accounts have severe server limitations (RAM, processor speed, etc.). Therefore, since the services are rendered by the third party providers, we are not responsible for the quality of their services or the high standards of their support. Please double check by requesting a written confirmation that your account meets our server requirements just to be on the safe side.
Generally, you should be shopping for a VPS server or a dedicated server. We cannot guarantee that the script will perform as advertised on a shared hosting. Currently, the prices on the website hosting market are very competitive, and there is not much of a difference between the cost of a shared account and a decent VPS account. Dedicated servers are usually more expensive, but they provide a totally different level of control, security, which may be essential for your business purposes and to ensure uninterrupted operation of your account.
Shared accounts are usually created on one virtual server node, and are all competing for the server resources. Nobody knows how many shared accounts are colocated on your node, and what is a realistic dedicated RAM for your account. If it is low, the script may not have enough RAM to complete advanced tasks such as feed import, etc. Small websites with few listings and no feeds (industrial or corporate websites, etc) will usually work fine on a shared account, but you may have to upgrade to a VPS.
VPS servers are generally great for websites that will have a reasonable amount of visitors and listings. Dedicated servers are good for large projects with tons of listings, feed imports, and visitors, or for operations that require failsafe server performance.
You will need to pay attention to the level of support offered by the company. Particularly, check for 24/7 support, or if you are a phone person, make sure their phone support is always on. Tools like live chats are also very useful, especially when your tickets are not responded to quickly enough. Personalized service is usually better provided by with smaller companies, and if you managed to establish a certain degree of trust with their support, this will be an asset for your business.
Currently, most offers are comparable with the likes of competitors as far as hardware, bandwidth and disk space are concerned. Therefore, one other key criterion will be compliance with our server requirements. You will need to send their sales or support departments the list of our requirements and obtain their confirmation that these requirements are fully supported. If you like everything, simply buy the one you like the most.
Also, we worked with the following hosting services. These hosts we do not recommend as we cannot ascertain their compliance with our requirements, but they may have changed their levels of service. We take no responsibility and give no guarantee whatsoever on the operation of our scripts on the hosting environments below.
Pros: Very inexpensive, wide variety of options and services.
Cons: Numerous server rights issues, support non-cooperative for cheaper accounts. No IonCube on some accounts plus certain restrictions on cheaper accounts. Only business-level VPS or dedicated accounts may marginally be compatible after hosting support tuning. Feed Import Addon will NOT work on GoDaddy for various reasons.
Pros: Good company, fast and reliable support ticket support, good packages. VPS and dedicated servers should be compatible.
Cons: Does not offer SSH for basic accounts, no livechat support, 9-5 Pacific time phone support.
Pros: Good hosting offers, reasonable packages.
Cons: No IonCube for shared hosting accounts, no willingness from support to install IonCube based on customer requests. Won’t work with our software.
Cons: Unreliable, slow and untrained support.
Cons: A lot of problems during the installation and managing the website
We are continuously working on recommending the reasonable hosting service providers for you. We would really appreciate your help. Please share your thoughts and experience regarding levels of services, compatibility and other hosting service-related issues you encountered for your hosting account.
If you know hosting providers that also meet our requirements, or you consider that some hosts listed here should be excluded from the "recommended", please let us know that by contacting us.
"Thank you so so much for your tech and design support and assistance in turning the iauto template into my luxury car classifieds site, and showing me how to make some design changes myself. I am very happy with how it turned out, with how it functions, and with how it looks. Thank you again for your great help!"
"Works perfect! Thank you. Must to say that you have a good service and support at your company. Good works."
"I’ve tried other software and nothing even comes close to or even compares to the iAuto software and the customer service is fast and very professional and they are very polite. I recommend the iAuto to anyone, don’t waste your time with other software that promises you the world and delivers nothing, as nothing even comes close to the iAuto software. I don’t work for iAuto so don’t think I’m writing a sales pitch for them, this is my real world experience dealing with them. Thank you so much to all the personal that have developed such a fantastic software and for the support."
