A new release of the WorksForWeb’s entire product line has recently been made available to the public. The new version, v.6.4.0, is developed as a follow-on release to the previous v.6.3.0. The objectives of the release were to rewrite the products to be compatible with PHP v.5.4, and to include a number of new features and bug fixes that were originally excluded from v.6.3.0.
An overview of important changes is provided in the subsequent paragraphs.
PHP 5.4
With the ongoing phasing out of PHP v.5.3 by hosting companies, we updated our products to be compatible with PHP v.5.4.x version. However, the product is backwards compatible with servers running PHP v.5.3 as well.
New User-Side Listing Import-Export Addon
An important addition to the existing line of product addons is a new User-Side Listing Import-Export Addon (ImpEx Addon for short).
What it essentially does is it allows any user whose membership plan allows bulk import/export to import and export listings in bulk. This is an extension of the functionality that was previously available to the admin only.
This feature will be of immense demand by any corporate user showcasing multiple listings under one account. Adding the entire inventory in an .xls or csv formats, or backing up all the listings in a single file is something our clients have been asking for a long time, and we delivered.
The addon will be available for all versions starting from 6.4.0.
Custom Meta Tags for Any Page or Listing
Every release brings additional features and enhancements that make our products even more helpful to SEO experts in terms of fine-tuning the website to become #1 of its kind.
We have just added the capability for any user to add custom META tags such as description, title, and keywords, to any listing. This function has become available for all other pages of the website as well (website admins will most certainly appreciate this function).
What is this new feature good for? Why is it important to have one?
Properly configured META tags are an important tool in the white-hat on-page SEO optimization. With custom META information customized to the contents of every page or listing, such pages and listings become far more attractive and valuable for search engines, leading to better conversions and increasing website popularity.
Admin-Side Usability Enhancements
We spent quite a bit of time improving the admin-side functionality to make managing your classified website easier and more enjoyable
Change Field Sequence in a Flash
First of all, now you can quickly move around the fields in the admin area, making the adjustments in field sequence a breeze. Anyone managing multiple fields and deciding to change the order fields would certainly appreciate this.
Insert Images into Static Pages via the Admin
You no longer need to pump all your pics via FTP and link them via the editor. You can add images directly while creating custom static pages.
Improved Translation Interface and Source Code Editor
These are the two things that many heavy users were longing for. When editing an interface item translation, you can correct the phrase right on the spot with our AJAX-based enhancement.
Using a simple, yet powerful source code editor with Smarty tag recognition instead of a regular text area in the admin area is now a reality!
